Prestige Proof SetsIn 1985, the US Mint did not produce any Prestige Proof Sets because there were no commemorative coins created that year. These specially made proof set compilations come in a hinged box which opens like a book. The front and back of the box open to reveal either the obverse or reverse side of the coins. There is a high demand for these proof sets, with high priced versions being difficult to find and easy to sell. 2004 Prices range from the 1987 set which sold for $24.95 to $499 for the 1996 set.
